Responsibilities
- Monitor the health and behavior of dairy cattle daily, identifying signs of illness or distress promptly
- Assist with milking procedures, ensuring equipment is clean and functioning properly
- Maintain clean and comfortable living conditions for the herd, including bedding and pasture management
- Operate farm machinery safely for feeding, manure removal, and other routine tasks
- Perform heavy lifting tasks such as moving feed bags, equipment, or livestock with proper technique
- Conduct regular inspections of fencing, water systems, and farm infrastructure to ensure safety and efficiency
- Support breeding programs by assisting with herd reproductive management under supervision
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain farm equipment and machinery
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various weather conditions
- Experience with farm machinery operation including feeders, tractors, or milking machines is preferred
- Strong animal care skills with an understanding of dairy cattle behavior and health needs
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks throughout long shifts
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors
