Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. In this role, you will support the full cycle of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger activities for both Canadian and U.S. operations, while gaining hands-on experience and developing the skills needed to progress into a Full-Cycle Accountant position.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (Full AP Cycle)
- Manage the AP process from invoice receipt through payment
- Review and code vendor invoices accurately
- Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, receiving documents, and vendor invoices
- Resolve vendor invoice discrepancies and payment issues
- Reconcile vendor statements and maintain accurate AP records
- Process vendor payments in accordance with company policies
- Assist with month-end AP reconciliations
Accounts Receivable (Full AR Cycle)
- Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and timely
- Apply customer payments and reconcile customer accounts
- Monitor AR aging and assist with collection efforts
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and unapplied cash
- Process credits, adjustments, and account reconciliations
- Support month-end AR reconciliations
General Ledge & Accounting
- Prepare and post routine journal entries and accruals
- Assist with monthly and year-end close activities
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
- Support accounting activities for both Canadian and U.S. entities
- Assist with revenue and expense analysis
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
Canadian & U.S. Tax Compliance Support
- Assist with GST/HST/PST compliance and documentation
- Maintain customer exemption and resale certificates
- Support U.S. sales tax compliance activities
- Assist with documentation related to IRS requirements
- Support internal and external audit requests
Administrative & Team Support
- Maintain organize electronic accounting records
- Assist with document management, data entry, and filing
- Coordinate with internal departments, vendors, and customers to obtain required information
- Support process improvements and accounting projects
- Assist with other administrative and accounting duties as required
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably including AP, AR, General Ledger responsibilities
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements
- Familiarity with Canadian accounting practices
- Exposure to U.S. accounting, sales tax, resale certificates, or IRS requirements is an asset
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, tables, and data analysis
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Eagerness to learn and grow within an accounting career
