Optometric Assistant – Emerald Optometry
Emerald Optometry is seeking a warm, motivated, and patient-centered Optometric Assistant to join our growing team. Responsibilities
- Assist patients in the optical dispensary with eyewear selection and process glasses and contact lens orders
- Support the optometrist in conducting specialized tests (retinal photos/OCT/corneal topography and axial length measurement)
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow throughout the day
- Educate patients on eyewear options, lens features, coatings, and care instructions
- Handle payment collection and patient checkout
- Process insurance claims and verify patient information
- Support general clinic administration including scheduling, recalls, referrals, and billing
- Assist with operational tasks such as fax and document management, inventory tracking, and order processing
- Prepare and maintain clean and organized treatment areas
Qualifications
- Background in optometry, ophthalmology, or a related allied health field is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Basic computer skills and experience with electronic health records (EHR) software.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional certification or training in optometry or healthcare is a plus
Schedule
- Part-time: 10–20 hours per week, must be available to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays
- Additional hours available as our specialty services continue to expand
Language:
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
