The Role
They are seeking a Senior Apparel Designer with a strong focus on knitwear and cut-and-sew product development to join their creative team. This individual will be responsible for driving the design direction of assigned categories, transforming trend insights into commercially successful knit collections.
The role requires a strong balance of creativity and technical expertise, with the ability to design fashion-relevant products while understanding fabrication, construction, and cost implications. The designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams throughout the full product development cycle.
The Responsibilities:
- Design and develop seasonal knit and cut-and-sew collections aligned with brand direction and emerging trends
- Create commercially viable assortments that support sales performance and customer demand
- Research market trends, fabric innovations, washes, and treatments to inspire new product concepts
- Collaborate with merchandising and buying teams to develop balanced, trend-right collections
- Partner with technical design and production teams to ensure garment fit, quality, and construction standards are met
- Work closely with product development teams to align designs with manufacturing capabilities, costing, and timelines
- Develop detailed sketches, technical flats, and design specifications using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Manage seasonal calendars, deadlines, and multiple projects throughout the development cycle
- Monitor competitor activity and global fashion trends within the knitwear and cut-and-sew market
- Source fabrics, trims, and finishes that align with both creative direction and cost objectives
The Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Fashion Design or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in apparel design, with a strong focus on knit and cut-and-sew products
- Strong understanding of knit fabrications, garment construction, fit, and product development processes
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent eye for color, fabrication, silhouette, and overall fashion aesthetics
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams
- Fluency in English or French for communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Solid understanding of fashion trends, retail product development, and the apparel industry
