Job description:
Errington's Wilderness Islands Resort is situated North of Wawa on Wabatongushi Lake in Northern Ontario. We are a fishing and nature, family-run, fly-in resort located in the Chapleau Game Preserve offering great fishing, birding and wildlife viewing to groups and families. 80% of guests are repeat clientele and we are highly rated on travel sites for our quality of vacation and outstanding customer service. Successful staff have described their time at the resort as being one of their more memorable and enjoyable work settings due to staff and guest interactions and the natural beauty of the resort environment.
June 2026 to Late September 2026
~$4000/month. On-site accommodations; details provided during the selection process, including separate rooms, meals, use of boats, canoes, kayaks, internet. Assistance with travel to job location.
Gratuities average $3000.00+ for the season and are dependent on customer service and the number of guests in camp
Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Assist in food preparation and service to ensure high-quality dining experiences for our guests and staff
- Vegetable, meat, fish, soup, salads and desert preparation
- Assist in plating meals with attention to presentation
- Assistance with shore lunches
- Support kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Help manage food handling procedures following safety standards.
- Assist in controlling cost by maintaining portion control and quantities of preparation, minimizing waste, ensuring high quality of preparation
- Maintain inventory levels of food supplies and assist with stock management.
- Washing dishes, pots and pans
- Greet guests warmly and provide excellent customer service when interacting.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflects our commitment to outdoor adventure and nature appreciation.
Qualifications
- Kitchen experience in food preparation, chopping, temperature monitoring
- Knowledge of food safety protocols and handling procedures.
- Good listening skills with an ability to focus on tasks assigned
- Ability to multi task
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to learn new methods and flexibility to assist various tasks with adaptations when living in a remote environment
- Punctual, meticulous, clean and reliable
- Good physical fitness for walking, bending, lifting up to 40lbs,
- Good communications and positive interpersonal skills with co-workers and guests
- Must have a keen interest in this type of employment and setting. Our staff act as ambassadors for the resort to ensure a memorable and exceptional vacation for our guests which in turn promotes return visits and a positive environment to work.
- Prior experience in outdoor or wilderness hospitality settings is a plus including the ability to live in a remote setting for the duration of the season
- Passion for nature and outdoor activities is highly valued.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
Certificates and Licences
- Food Handling Certificate not necessary but an asset

Resort Description
This family run fly-in fishing and wilderness resort is located 330km/206 miles north of Wawa Ontario on beautiful Wabatongushi Lake in the Chapleau Game Preserve which offers individuals a unique opportunity to observe wildlife in their natural habitat in a peaceful setting. This secluded resort has many wildlife species only found in Ontario's Boreal forests. Guests enjoy great Walleye/Pickerel, Northern Pike and Perch fishing, wildlife viewing and bird watching. Ideal location for outdoor adventures or just relaxing. The unique resort setting has provided staff with yearly employment and students with many opportunities to carry out co-op programs while working at the resort, such as the creation of a web log describing events at the resort, establishing interpretive trails describing the local nature and geography of the area, designing bird lists and conducting nature tours. 80% of the resort's guests are repeat clientele, some dating back 40-50 years and most of the staff have been employed by the resort from 2-24 years.
