We are currently seeking an DZ Driver to join the team in our Pembroke shop. The DZ driver will be responsible for hauling deliveries of steel to a variety of customers all over Ontario and/or our Ottawa shop. The driver is responsible for safely operating and driving a tractor trailer, as well as contributing to the overall success of the Mansteel team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operating and driving straight truck or Highway Tractor + flat deck trailer to transport goods and materials
- Hauling reinforcing steel on a flat-bed trailer
- Ability to use or learn to use mandatory e-log system
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate with dispatch, site supers and foreman for changes during their shift
- Familiarity with using Google Maps, texting, taking pictures, with company provided Samsung or Apple smartphone
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, and brakes
- Minor truck maintenance i.e adding oiling, fueling.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
- Responsible for completing a pre and post inspection of the vehicle each day before operating.
- Responsible for documenting all inspections to ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order.
- Assist with shunting trailers, assisting with loading and off-loading of trailers at Company yards/sites.
- Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and working in a variety of environments, both internal and external in all types of weather conditions.
- Follow all plant and company safety guidelines in the performance of all job duties and responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Valid DZ License, or valid AZ License /Air brake (Z) endorsement would be an asset
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience with an AZ or DZ license
- Experience hauling steel would be an asset
- Clean Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate
- Sound knowledge of safe driving practices
- Previous experience working in an industrial environment is an asset
- Previous experience in machine operation is an asset
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
