Position Summary
The Food Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and food-safe production environment within the bakery facility. This role ensures all equipment, tools, and surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized in compliance with company policies and food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitizing of all bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, and packaging machinery
- Clean and sanitize production areas such as floors, walls, drains, and work surfaces
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment for deep cleaning as required
- Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and safety protocols at all times
- Use and handle cleaning chemicals safely according to WHMIS and company guidelines
- Conduct pre-operational inspections to ensure cleanliness before production starts
- Complete sanitation logs, checklists, and required documentation accurately
- Identify and report any sanitation issues, equipment damage, or potential contamination risks
- Support compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards
- Maintain proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, hairnets, and safety gear
- Assist with pest control prevention by maintaining clean and debris-free environments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (asset but not always required)
- Previous experience in sanitation, food manufacturing, or cleaning (asset but not always required)
- Knowledge of food safety practices (HACCP, GMP) is an asset (or will be trained)
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures
- Basic understanding of chemical handling and safety an asset (will be trained)

Working Conditions

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
