Job Summary
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our accounting team and oversee the accounting aspects of our ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and project management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects while contributing to the financial success of our organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each property or portfolio of properties.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations (such as GAAP - Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Provide financial reports to management, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of property budgets and forecasts.
- Identify variances and analyze reasons for discrepancies.
- Process invoices, utility bills, and other accounts payable items.
- Review and reconcile vendor statements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
- Record journal entries for transactions such as property acquisitions, dispositions, depreciation, and amortization.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and prepaid expenses.
- Assist in the preparation of property tax returns and other tax-related filings.
- Provide financial data and analysis to support decision-making regarding property acquisitions, dispositions, and capital expenditures.
- Assist auditors during financial audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Implement audit recommendations and internal controls to improve financial processes and ensure compliance.
- Utilize accounting software, Sage, and Microsoft Excel proficiently to perform duties efficiently and accurately.
- Communicate financial results, analysis, and recommendations clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations affecting the real estate industry.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent professional experience
- Detail-oriented with exceptional attention to accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to foster positive working relationships and demonstrated leadership skills
- Proficiency in accounting software's, Sage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Previous experience in property accounting, real estate finance, or related roles is preferred.
