Remote Real Estate Law Clerk Contractor (Flexible and High-Volume Opportunities)
Opportunity Summary
Duncan Law Chambers is seeking experienced, detail-oriented, and technology-savvy Real Estate Law Clerks to provide remote legal support services on an independent contractor basis.
We are looking to establish ongoing relationships with one or more contractors who can assist our lawyers with Ontario residential real estate transactions. We welcome applications from individuals seeking a substantial and ongoing volume of work, as well as those looking for a more flexible arrangement to supplement their existing practice or employment.
Contractors will be engaged under a service agreement and compensated on a per-file or per-transaction basis, as agreed upon between the parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review legal documents for purchase, sale, refinance, transfer, and private mortgage transactions.
- Conduct title and off-title searches.
- Prepare closing documents and coordinate real estate closings.
- Draft correspondence, undertakings, statements of adjustments, reporting letters, and related documentation.
- Communicate professionally with clients, lenders, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, and other law offices as required.
- Assist lawyers with file management and administrative tasks related to real estate transactions.
- Utilize legal technology platforms and software to efficiently manage assigned files.
Qualifications
- You must be reside in Ontario, Canada.
- Law Clerk diploma or equivalent experience in real estate law.
- In lieu of a diploma, a minimum of two years of relevant real estate law experience will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario residential real estate transactions.
- Experience with conveyancing software and document management systems, including Unity, Teraview, Nojumi, or similar platforms.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines with minimal supervision.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technical proficiency and comfort working in a cloud-based environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software, systems, and workflows.
- Experience working in a paperless legal practice.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Slack, Dropbox Sign (formerly HelloSign), DocuSign, electronic document management systems, and other cloud-based collaboration and productivity tools.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on completed real estate transactions and/or assigned files. Specific compensation arrangements will be discussed with successful candidates based on experience, availability, and anticipated file volume.
Work Arrangement
- Fully remote.
- Flexible workload based on mutual availability and file volume.
