About the role
We're hiring a Field Service Technician to assess, maintain, and repair valves and fluid control systems across water and wastewater systems in Ontario. Our clients span many sectors including municipal, residential, industrial, and more. It's hands-on, technical, problem-solving work — ideal for someone who likes being in the field, diagnosing mechanical systems, and seeing a job through. This role suits someone with a strong technical or engineering foundation who would rather apply it in the field than behind a desk — with room to grow as our service team expands.
What you’ll do
- Assess, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair valves and fluid-control systems in water and wastewater environments.
- Perform site inspections to evaluate equipment condition and service needs.
- Enter and work in confined spaces (in-ground valve chambers) — full confined-space training, equipment, and rescue procedures provided.
- Diagnose technical and hydraulic issues on site and deliver practical solutions for a range of clients, from municipalities to contractors and facility operators.
- Prepare clear service and assessment reports after each visit.
- Analyze recurring failures and recommend systemic improvements to management.
What you bring
Required:
- Hands-on mechanical experience, ideally from a skilled trade (millwright, plumber, mechanic, water/wastewater operator, or similar).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Comfort working independently in the field and as part of a team.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence and willingness to travel within Ontario (mostly day trips, with occasional overnight stays).
- Basic computer skills for report writing and email (Microsoft Office).
- Secondary school diploma.
Assets (not required):
- Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering or a related technical field — a strong asset in this role, where understanding fluid-control and mechanical systems directly improves diagnosis and client recommendations.
- Understanding of valves and fluid/hydraulic mechanical principles.
- Confined-space entry certification.
- Experience in water/wastewater across municipal, construction, or facility settings.
What we offer
- $70,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience.
- Health and dental benefits.
- Company service vehicle provided for field work.
- Tools and PPE provided.
- Training and long-term growth in a stable, established company.
