Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual for a dual role, split roughly 50/50 between baking and front of house. In this role, you will be a major part of daily bakery operations, take part in food preparation, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of hands-on baking experience and who can also make our full drink menu and take ownership of the front house when assigned that role.
Responsibilities in the Kitchen
- Have a lead role in baking and food preparation, including measuring ingredients and mixing dough or batter
- Decorate cakes and pastries using various techniques such as cake decorating to create visually appealing products
- Package baked goods efficiently for sale or delivery, ensuring presentation quality
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas in compliance with food safety standards
- Support the team in stocking supplies and managing inventory levels
- Provide friendly customer service by answering questions about products and assisting customers with selections
- Follow all food handling protocols to ensure safety and hygiene standards are met at all times
- Help with cleaning, sanitation, and general maintenance of equipment and workspaces
Responsibilities in the Front of House
- Prepare our full drink menu — espresso-based and other beverages — with speed, consistency, and care.
- Greet every guest warmly and deliver friendly, confident counter service.
- Take orders and process payments accurately on our POS/register (Shopify POS a plus).
- Own the display counters — arrange, stock, and maintain them so products always look their best and stay fresh.
- Manage the front of house — keep it clean, stocked, well-organized, and running smoothly throughout the day.
- Showcase, plate, and package our desserts beautifully — you know these products inside out.
- Answer questions and make recommendations with genuine product knowledge (you baked it!).
- Stay calm, fast, and accurate during busy periods, and help create an upbeat atmosphere.
Skills Required
- 3+ years of hands-on, paid baking experience in a bakery, café, or commercial kitchen — this is a firm requirement.
- Proven ability to bake cheesecakes, cookies, and cakes consistently and to a high standard, from scratch and/or from established recipes.
- Solid cake finishing and decorating skills — layering, frosting, and clean, attractive presentation.
- Comfort managing production timing and volume — prepping, batching, and baking to meet daily demand without sacrificing quality.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and proper handling and storage standards.
- Proven barista / drink-making ability — able to prepare espresso-based drinks (espresso, cappuccino, latte, etc.) consistently and to standard.
- The judgment and initiative to manage the front of house and display counters — keeping presentation, stock, and service running smoothly. Prior lead or supervisory experience is a strong plus.
- A track record of reliability — early starts, consistent output, and being someone the team can count on.
- Previous restaurant or food industry experience is a plus, especially in food preparation or cooking
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and cleanliness
