Summary:
The Maintenance Planner is a self-starter with a desire to make continuous improvements to the maintenance tasks and activities. The Maintenance Planner is hands on, scheduling the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of plant equipment to ensure manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish, maintain, and improve the maintenance planning and scheduling flow process.
- Accountable for detailed maintenance planning, repair/replacement of plant equipment, scheduling, and cost estimating.
- Provide planning support for projects and major maintenance events in each respective area of the facility.
- Maximize resources by identifying parts, materials, special tools, external services, rentals, and documentation required for coinciding projects.
- Develop full scope and extent of work needed, including cost and time required, to conduct the relevant repair, preventive, predictive, and improvement maintenance activities of the plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Prepare job plans for scheduling, detailing parts, materials, special tools, external services, and documentation with planned costs.
- Prepare reports, collect and analyze data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related and operation-related problems.
- Responsible for initiating the requisitioning process for all materials; establish, maintain, improve, and optimize inventory.
- Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for managing and tracking work orders, back log, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
- Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and prioritize and plan work activities.
- Develop realistic action plans to meet ever-changing demands or priorities.
- Support equipment upgrades, plant improvements, and installations by collaborating with all parties involved.
- Support and collaborate with the Maintenance Manager in the development and implementation of planned shutdown and other continuous improvement projects.
- Contact vendors as needed to obtain price quotes, follow up on part orders, and set up service requests.
- Pick up parts and items when needed to avoid downtime.
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma, educational background in Mechanical/Electrical/Engineering/Trades or equivalent is a plus.
- 1-3 years’ experience in the maintenance and/or operation of a manufacturing facility in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; prioritize and plan work activities, using time efficiently.
- High level of accountability and responsibility for the role and expectations.
- Proficiency in using maintenance planning and scheduling software.
- High regard for safety regulations and industry standards.
- Familiarity with maintenance equipment and supplies procurement processes.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills.
- Able to work within tight timelines and complete the required tasks.
- An open and articulate communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Enjoys working in a dynamic, yet supportive, team environment.
- Capable of working independently while at the same time contributing effectively as a team member.
- Experience using a CMMS system to report and track all maintenance activity is considered a strong asset (including computer and technical skills).
- Strong attention to proper work procedures, food safety, and working safely.
- A willingness to collaborate and contribute ideas to improve team performance.
