Position: Quarry Foreman – Full Time Position

An opportunity exists at South Shore Sand & Gravel’s quarry operation near Chester, Nova Scotia for a Quarry Foreman.
Reporting to the Quarry Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the quarry operation’s aggregate crushing spreads. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for managing crews, maximizing daily material production targets, and maintaining a strict culture of safety and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate possesses good mechanical knowledge of mobile or fixed crusher spreads, exceptional problem-solving skills and a proven track record of supervising heavy civil or quarry personnel. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Coordination of crushing activities
· Maintaining a safe operating environment, participating directly in the safety program
· Monitor and adjust crushing processes to optimize operations and reduce downtime
· Maintenance and troubleshooting of crushing equipment as required
· Monitoring of quarry inventories and planning of screen changes
· Monitoring and reporting of finished product inventory
· Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory policies
The ideal candidate will have:
· Excellent communication skills and a sense of urgency to minimize operating downtime
· Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
· Proficiency in the use of operating systems related to aggregate processing
· A strong mechanical aptitude and competent use of basic computer systems
· Proficiency in basic mathematics
· Education and/or experience which is complementary to the quarry and aggregate industry
· A valid Nova Scotia driver’s license with a clean abstract
Prior experience in the quarry or construction industry would be considered an asset.
