Summary of Position
This position is responsible to assist with the ongoing continuous improvement of the CCI’s group of companies overall Health and Safety Management System and providing support to all levels within the organization in its effective execution. Provide leadership and oversight to ensure overall compliance with legislative, Client and company HSE requirements. This position will require some travel to project sites, office locations.
Accountabilities
- Complete and maintained recognized HSE related training and industry training as required for CCI Tier 3 employee or other industry recognized training as outline thru discussion with HSE Manager.
- Assist with the ongoing maintenance and support activities for the CCI group of company’s current safety management system to reflect regulatory and industry requirements
- Support online approval programs such as ISNET, PEC, Comply Works as requested
- Assist with the administration of the Alcohol and Drug Program as required and complete reporting as required
- Implement and maintain all company safety documentation as per project specific safety plans and HSEMS
- Support project management in delivery and execution of projects including Prime contractor support when required
- Attend meetings as required with clients, internal teams, etc.
- Advise. leadership on related programs, regulatory compliance, emergency management and safety management system
- Assist with ongoing subcontractor and 3rd party Service provider prequalification assessments and performance auditing against HSEMS requirements ensuring program integrity
- Develop and distribute safety communications (alerts, safety moments etc.)
- Support or lead internal incident investigations; quality assess 3rd party investigations
- Assist with project safety planning and in field activities as required. Conduct site / office visits as required to drive continuous support and improvement.
- Assist with maintaining regulatory compliance
- Support proactive safety culture through continuous improvement and coaching opportunities.
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of industry experience in HSE roles in the Forestry, Environment, Oil and Gas, Geotechnical drilling, manufacturing and related sectors. Preference for experience in multiple areas (e.g., Forestry, pipeline, drilling, land surveying, timber harvesting and hauling, civil construction, seismic operations, reforestation, reclamation, etc.)
- Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP -Preferred), NCSO or other recognized designation in Canda. US operations CSP,CST, OSHA 30 or other recognized designation
- Highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic. Capable of working in a variety of work settings including, Office and Field locations requiring travel. Individual must have proven experience in multi tasking.
- Experience as a representative of a Prime Contractor within Canada and / or US
- Strong understanding of industry standards, HSE related legislation – WorkSafeBC, Alberta OH&S, OSHA, etc.
- Experience with integrated management systems, in particular HSE management systems based on recognized standards such as COR, ISO etc.
- Strong computer skills with experience working in Office programs such as Word, Excel, TEAMS.
- Industry Recognized Field training: Intermediate First aid / CPR or equivalent, H2S Alive, Supervisory Level Ground Disturbance, Wildlife / Bear Awareness, WHMIS / Hazcom, Transportation Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Drivers licence in good standing with acceptable drivers abstract for past 3 years with defensive driving. Experience driving a Truck on a variety of roads including forestry /industry access roads preferred.
- Safety Sensitive position – Will be required to complete and maintain ability to complete Pre-access A&D testing as per CCI’s Alcohol and Drug Policy. Additional Fitness for duty testing may be required based on scope of work.
Nature of Work:
- Office and Field focused position with some travel required between company offices and project locations. Travel will vary based on office and project field support required and will be through discussion with HSE manager.
- Scheduled work hours shall be set based on company office hours but may vary based on project needs as required. Schedule shall be set based on ongoing discussion with management.
- This is an office-based position when not in the field and alternate work arrangements may be approved by management.
