Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Steel Fabrication Shop Labourer / Pre-Apprentice to join our dynamic manufacturing team. Duties
- Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing raw materials and finished products using hand tools and basic machinery.
- Support skilled technicians with tasks involving CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, and press brake operations.
- Help prepare materials for fabrication, reading blueprints, and setting up equipment.
- Operate forklifts and cranes safely to move heavy steel components around the shop floor.
- Participate in quality inspection procedures to ensure parts meet specifications through visual checks and measurement tools.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and proper tool storage.
- Support assembly processes by handling parts, assisting with welding preparations, and ensuring accurate placement of components.
- Prepare steel for coatings and paint
Qualifications
- Basic math skills and the ability to read blueprints or technical drawings are preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with familiarity in hand tools and power equipment.
- Willingness to learn CNC programming, CNC operations, welding techniques, and other fabrication processes.
- Ability to work safely around heavy machinery such as cranes, forklifts, CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, and press brakes.
- Strong work ethic with good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or steel fabrication is an asset but not required; training will be provided.
- Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting heavy materials safely.
