Strive Centre Kelowna is seeking a motivated and community-minded Program Assistant through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This opportunity is ideal for youth interested in gaining experience in community services, recreation programming, administration, and non-profit operations.
This role combines administrative support with involvement in recreation programming, events, and participant engagement within the centre. This role provides valuable hands-on learning opportunities in administration, recreation programming, communication, and community support within a non-profit setting.
The successful candidate will support daily program and administrative operations while contributing to a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for adults with diverse abilities.
Position Details
- Position: Program Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
- Location: Strive Centre, Kelowna, BC
- Hours: 35 hours per week (Between Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm)
- Duration: 8-week temporary summer position
- Start Date: Immediately
- End Date: August 28, 2026
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour

To be eligible for this position through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and federal legislation and regulations
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally permitted to work in Canada

Job Duties May Include but Not Limited to:
- Welcome participants and visitors while supporting front desk operations
- Answer phones, respond to general inquiries, and assist with scheduling support
- Assist with data entry, attendance tracking, filing, and organizing documentation
- Prepare program materials, orientation packages, activity supplies, and resource boards
- Support staff with recreational activities, events, and community outings
- Assist with participant engagement and day-to-day activities within the centre
- Support supervisors and program staff with small operational and administrative projects
- Contribute to maintaining a positive, organized, and inclusive environment
The ideal applicant shall possess:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable using computers, email, and Microsoft Office applications
- Organized, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Interest in community living, recreation, social services, or administration considered an asset
- Experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities is considered an asset, but not required
