Donor Stewardship and Fundraising Lead
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Donor Stewardship and Fundraising Lead position is responsible for designing and executing a multi-year fundraising plan including corporate giving, corporate sponsorship, third party giving, individual giving, special events, grants, major gifts, legacy giving and capital campaigns. This position must think and act strategically and possess integrity, outstanding written/verbal communication skills, and professional credibility as a successful fundraiser. The role works closely with the chief executive officer, community engagement, volunteer and events lead, and resource development committee.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide leadership and direction on fundraising initiatives
· Build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
· Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them
· Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors
· Research, prepare and submit innovative fundraising grant proposals to government, public and private foundations
· Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies
· Prospect research
· Direct fundraising initiatives
· Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about Habitat with the community
· Create and lead capital campaigns and other major fundraising activities
· Utilize donor database software and update database as required
· Coordinate with build & Restore teams regarding gifts-in-kind donations for capital projects
· Prepare regular progress reports on fundraising targets and activities
· Provide direction to staff as needed in preparing tax receipts and donor recognition materials including thank you letters and other required material
· Creating annual budget and track expenditures
· Work with Habitat Canada staff to maximise national fundraising programs
· Creating and maintaining communications plan
· Updating fundraising database and tracking systems
· Support creation of publications to support fund raising activities
· Works with community engagement, volunteer and events lead to create social media and web content
· Maintain gift recognition programs
· Create marketing plan for affiliate programs
· Work closely with the CEO and fund-raising committee
· Attend various staff, board, committee and Habitat Canada meetings
· Ensure compliance with Habitat Canada branding requirements

Education, Experience & Job Requirements
· 3+ years minimum full-time experience in fund raising in nonprofit sector
· CFRE accreditation is an asset
· Proven track record of achieving fund raising targets
· Strategic thinker with positive and flexible mindset
· Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills
· Proven ability using relevant computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, brochure/newsletter programs etc.
· Knowledge of Bloomerang Donor Management Software an asset
· Proven ability using social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linked-In
· The ability to maintain necessary records and documentation
· Demonstrated organizational, time management and multi-tasking abilities
· A basic working knowledge of the need for affordable housing and its impacts, and of relevant community resources
· Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Willingness to attend public functions and networking events
· Requires a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend work
· The ability to work independently and in a self-directing manner, as well as the ability to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner with other HFHO staff, students, community agencies, community partners, donors and volunteers
