Position Summary:
The Tactical Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment through a visible security presence, proactive patrols, and effective incident response. The role supports the protection of people and property by enforcing site rules and managing high-risk or high-traffic situations professionally.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a fair and professional manner
- Utilize tact and diplomacy when interacting with the public
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid/CPR/AED support as required
- Maintain and enforce access control procedures
- Conduct regular foot patrols of the property
- Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activityHandle trespassers and unauthorized individuals safely and respectfully
- De-escalate conflicts and manage crisis situationsInvestigate incidents and complete accurate reports and documentation
- Maintain logs, memo books, and incident reportsEnsure the safety and security of all patrons, clients, and property
- Assist emergency services and law enforcement as needed
- Provide customer service, including access control and line management
- Support daily operations as required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Security Licence
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- CTSS (Level 2) or PPCT (or equivalent use-of-force training)AVERT, MOAB, or NVCI certification
- Minimum 1 year of security experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Ability to stand and patrol for extended periods (8–12 hours)
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-stress situations
- Professional demeanor with strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-traffic environments
- Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in tactical, high-profile, or public-facing security roles
- Experience in retail security or loss prevention
- Additional de-escalation or crisis intervention training
- Experience with CCTV systems and incident reporting
- Experience working in busy urban or high-risk environments
- Post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or a related field (asset)
