This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our client's (Toronto Downtown) and/or downtown Toronto office (250 Yonge Street) at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time.
We are looking for a talented API Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs and integration services for enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining API and interface agreements, developing APIs on the OCP CaaS platform, building DevOps pipelines for continuous deployment, and integrating enterprise data services using platforms such as Data Spider and Solace. Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI and code generation (Codegen) tools is essential for API standardization and accelerated development.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Design and define API specifications and interface agreements using Swagger/OpenAPI standards.
- Develop and deploy APIs and APIF solutions on the OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) CaaS environment.
- Utilize Codegen tools to generate API stubs, client SDKs, and service interfaces for faster development and consistency.
- Build, maintain, and optimize DevOps pipelines to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Collaborate with Application Operations (AO) teams to ensure smooth deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
- Integrate enterprise applications and services using Data Spider and Solace messaging/data platforms.
- Develop secure, scalable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Implement API versioning, authentication, authorization, and governance standards.
- Create and maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve API performance, connectivity, and deployment issues.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation for APIs, integrations, and deployment processes.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to integration best practices.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Strong experience in API development and enterprise integration solutions.
- Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and API management.
- Proficiency with Swagger/OpenAPI specification and API documentation practices.
- Experience using Codegen/OpenAPI Generator/Swagger Codegen tools for API and client code generation.
- Experience working with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) or containerized environments.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar API development technologies.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation tools.
- Experience integrating with Data Spider and Solace platforms for messaging and data services.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of API security standards including OAuth2, JWT, and SSL/TLS.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native application development.
- Exposure to enterprise middleware and integration platforms.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools in containerized environments.
- Relevant API, OpenShift, or cloud platform certifications are an advantage.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in API development and enterprise integration.
**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
