Senior Controls/Automation Engineer
Gas Liquids Engineering (GLE) is a well-established, privately-owned engineering firm providing EPCM services to the energy industry, including project management, engineering, drafting and design, procurement, construction management and regulatory services.
We are currently seeking a Senior Controls/Automation Engineer to work on a variety of challenging and innovative projects in natural gas, oil, fractionation, carbon sequestration, hydrogen generation, power generation, and transmission projects.
As a member of our engineering team your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Execute small to large sized projects as the Controls project lead, interfacing with other disciplines to ensure successful project completion.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technologists, and designers, ensuring the quality and accuracy of engineering drawings and designs.
- Specify, evaluate, and purchase of controls system equipment, including PLC and DCS equipment, and complete the controls design.
- Provide great value to our customers through technically strong and efficient work.
- Attend and provide input in client and stakeholder meetings.
- Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, providing technical input and support.
- Support the growth of the EIC engineering department through standards and templates review and development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- P. Eng. or P.L. (Eng.) in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulator, e.g., APEGA, EGBC, APEGS, or EGMB.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience with Energy projects in Canada including experience as the project Controls Lead.
- At least 1 year of experience leading junior and intermediate engineers, technologists, and designers/drafters.
- Prior experience in control system configuration, commissioning and startup is considered an asset.
- Experience in oil and gas or process facilities is considered an asset.
- Prior experience in power generation, transmission and substations is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of project change management, procurement systems and procedures.
- Excellent analytical, engineering problem-solving, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to work directly with client office and field personnel in a flexible, fast-paced environment.
- Occasional travel to facilities may be required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
