Overview
The company is a small renewable energy organisation in the Peterborough and
Kawartha Lakes region. Due to the nature of the renewable energy industry and the size
of the company, all employees must be willing and able to take on a variety of jobs and
be flexible in terms of working conditions, hours, and location. In addition to working on
renewable energy projects, you will from time-to-time work on residential electrical
installations. It is expected that you will assist in bringing in new clients to the business
to ensure that we are all successful.
The company incentivizes its team through a profit-sharing structure.
This is a permanent full-time position.
Duties
● Electrical work that may include
▪ estimating
▪ new installations of off-grid and grid-tie systems involving photovoltaics and
energy storage systems
▪ retrofits and service work to off-grid and grid-tie systems involving
photovoltaics and energy storage systems
▪ residential / commercial wiring
● Assisting with the installation of
▪ ground mounted and/or roof mounted solar racking systems
▪ PV and ESS
▪ other duties as assigned
● Training electrical apprentices
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate will:
● be a Master Electrician (or in the process of becoming one)
● have a strong sense of integrity, commitment to the environment, and honesty
● be comfortable working at heights
● abide by a strict non-smoking policy (both at the place of business and at
customer sites)
● be willing to have a flexible work schedule
● be able to lift up to 40 kg
● be willing and able to work under a variety of working conditions including
▪ both indoor and outdoor work
▪ remote sites (e.g. Boat / atv / snowmobile access only)
▪ occasional long days
▪ working at heights
● be able to take directions and follow instructions
● be able to prioritize and multitask
● have a positive attitude, work well independently and as part of a team
● can communicate well
● have a Class G (or higher) drivers’ license and have transportation to Buckhorn
and, at times, to job sites up to a two-hour radius of Buckhorn
● own and carry a cell phone
● computer skills (word processing and spreadsheet management)
● be willing to get a criminal records check if requested
Other Helpful Skills / Qualifications
Although not specifically, the following areas of experience would be an asset:
● welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and / or roofing skills
● ability to safely operate a chainsaw
● experience driving tractor / forklift / loaded / backhoe
● experience with various power tools
● fall arrest training
● boat smart certification
● hazardous goods training
Compensation and Benefits
The rate of pay will be $35 per hour. Although the hours will vary, there will typically be
a 40-hour work week.
