Overview
Community Living Port Colborne–Wainfleet is currently seeking three Summer Camp Counsellors to join our Community Living team. This program provides 1:1 integrated supports for children attending local community camps. Camp Counsellors support children throughout the day to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive camp experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:30am-4:30pm) with extended care based on family needs.
The Camp Program runs from July 6, 2026 to August 28, 2026 and mandatory training runs from June 22, 2026 to June 26, 2026.
Nature and Scope
Camp Counsellors work directly with campers who may have special needs, including physical, behavioural, and/or medical considerations. Counsellors provide individualized support to help campers successfully integrate into community camp programming while promoting independence, inclusion, and enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities of the Position
- Greet children in the morning, and complete daily screening
-Greet children and families each morning and complete daily screening
-Transport children to scheduled camps and activities
-Support and integrate children into daily camp programs
-Supervise outdoor games and recreational activities
-Prepare, organize, and adapt activities as required
-Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
-Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, changing, and feeding
-Communicate effectively with coworkers and the Program Coordinator
-Return children home safely at the end of each camp day
-Attend and actively participate in all required training sessions
Qualifications
-Currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in Child and Youth Worker, Recreation & Leisure, or a related field
-Must be between 15–30 years of age at the start of employment
-Previous experience working with children (experience with disabilities is an asset)
-Valid minimum G2 driver’s licence
-Clear driver’s abstract
-Access to a reliable vehicle with valid insurance to transport children
-Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
-Current CPR and First Aid certification
