About Family Service Nova Scotia
Family Service Nova Scotia (FSNS) is a community-based provincial organization that has been supporting individuals, families, and communities since 1969. Supporting service users is at the centre of everything we do.
We provide a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment across Nova Scotia, using a person-centred and trauma-informed approach that recognizes the unique strengths and experiences of each individual and family.
Program Overview
Families Plus is an intensive, clinical, home-based program designed to support families where there is a high likelihood of children coming into care.
This 36-week, Tier 3 intervention works with families with children aged 0–16, focusing on strengthening relationships, improving safety, and building long-term stability. The program is delivered using a dyadic approach and receives referrals through Child and Family Well-Being.
Position Summary
The Families Plus Clinical Interventionist delivers intensive, family-centred interventions in home and community settings. This role works closely with families, community partners, and internal teams to support positive outcomes and reduce the likelihood of children entering care.
Salary
$90,000 – $100,000
Qualifications
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with a minimum of five years of direct experience working with children and families
Eligibility for registration with the appropriate regulatory body
Core Responsibilities
Program Planning and Service Delivery
- Manage and maintain an active caseload
- Deliver intensive, home-based clinical interventions
- Maintain regular communication with families
- Collaborate with Child and Family Well-Being (OSD) and community partners
- Participate in service delivery and case planning meetings
- Monitor and adjust interventions based on family progress
Reflective Practice and Clinical Consultation
- Participate in individual, group, and clinical supervision
- Engage in ongoing reflective consultation with supervisors and peers
- Apply reflective practices before, during, and after client interactions
- Participate in annual performance and reflective reviews
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Complete monthly summary reports and case notes
- Manage scheduling, appointments, and availability tracking
- Utilize internal systems for documentation and reporting
Organizational Support
- Contribute to a positive team and office environment
- Support colleagues and broader program needs
- Participate in internal learning and professional development opportunities
Operational Responsibilities
- Monitor and request program materials as needed
- Track and submit timesheets and expenses
- Manage scheduling related to vacation and leave
Requirements
- Active registration and good standing with a professional regulatory body
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel regularly within the community
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Maintenance of professional liability insurance
