We are seeking a Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal advice and guidance on regulatory and other legal matters across our business. This role will support regulatory proceedings, compliance initiatives, operational activities, and project development with a primary focus on Liquids Pipelines and a secondary focus on Gas Transmission and Midstream (Canada), and Power businesses. Working closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams, you will help navigate complex regulatory environments while supporting Enbridge’s business objectives.

Provide strategic legal advice, guidance, and risk-based solutions to senior leadership on regulatory, operational, and business development matters.
Support the preparation and execution of regulatory applications, hearings, compliance verification activities, and interactions with regulatory bodies (Canada Energy Regulator, Alberta Energy Regulator and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (US)).
Advise business units on regulatory requirements and legal matters affecting tolls (rates), tariffs, facilities, operations, compliance, and project development matters.
Coordinate and manage external legal counsel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective legal services.
Develop and deliver legal education sessions and training programs for employees on relevant regulatory and legal topics.
Collaborate with internal legal and business teams to support strategic initiatives while modeling Enbridge’s values of safety, integrity, respect, inclusion, and high performance.
Provide advice and assistance to ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial statutes and common law on complex projects.
Keep informed and keep Management informed of pertinent regulatory legal issues, legislative changes and policy developments affecting Enbridge’s crude oil, natural gas and electricity assets and operations, providing timely updates and recommendations to management.
Law degree, membership in a law society/bar association and 2 to 3 years of relevant legal experience.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and processes, with pipeline industry experience related to tolls (rates), tariffs, and FERC oil pipeline matters considered highly desirable.
Exceptional analytical, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Proven ability to manage complex legal, regulatory, and business issues while balancing risk and business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated and adaptable, with strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize competing demands effectively.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a commitment to continuous learning and understanding Enbridge’s business operations.
Well developed knowledge of company operations; expertise in engineering, environment, business, finance, accounting and project management is an asset.
Highly detail-oriented with the ability to apply sound judgment and pragmatic solutions.
Primarily office-based role with occasional travel to Enbridge offices, regulatory agencies, hearings, and stakeholder locations, including international travel as required.
Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while delivering high-quality legal advice under tight timelines.
