Position Summary
We are currently looking for a highly motivated and customer-focused individual for the position of Shipper/ Delivery Dispatcher. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated and customer-focused individual who will ensure the highest standards of safety, service, and efficiency. This role ensures customers and employees are provided with the best possible experience daily. Together with other team members, the Shipper/ Dispatcher works to exceed customer expectations. The shifts are Monday - Friday and the wage range is $26.50 - $33.75 per hour (Tier 1: $26.50 - $30, Tier 2; $30 - $33.75).
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and track deliveries of building supplies to both residential and commercial job sites.
- Use of Microsoft based computer system to complete daily job specific tasks.
- Dispatch and coordinate deliveries for a dynamic commercial fleet of Overhead Cranes, Knuckle Cranes, Truck Mounted Forklifts, Flat Decks and Cube Vans.
- Lead and assign work to a diverse delivery team of Crane Operators, Drivers and Delivery Helpers.
- Coordinate and mange all delivery types including; roof top deliveries, drywall and insulation deliveries and packs into job sites, crane deliveries, flat deck roll off deliveries and forklift deliveries.
- Communicate respectfully, both verbal and written, directly with the Slegg sales team and customers to coordinate and plan deliveries.
- Communicate and coordinate deliveries and product transfers with other Slegg locations.
- Planning of the most efficient delivery methods and routes.
- Understand truck and employee safety requirements and planning of deliveries within them.
- Follow and ensure compliance of all provincial and company safety regulations and policies.
- Inventory management.
- Document and report on required metrics and activities.
- Communicate issues and successes to superiors in a timely manner.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks in the warehouse when needed.
- Assist with deliveries at job sites when needed.
- Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements
- Secondary education in business, commerce, supply chain management, management, or equivalent experience and on the job training considered an asset.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience in building materials supply industry preferred.
- Valid forklift certification and experience are preferred.
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments.
- Be a solutions provider for customers and employees.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and comfortable with tight deadlines and customer demands.
- Ability to adapt to last minute changes.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80lbs.
- Climbing up and down stairs.
- Bending and standing with weight.
