Job Overview
Fine Drywall Ltd. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing drawings and specifications, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting project bidding and budgeting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for drywall, steel stud framing, insulation, ceilings, and related scopes
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Prepare accurate and competitive project estimates and bid proposals
- Analyze project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, and field teams during pre-construction
- Maintain estimating databases, historical costs, and pricing records
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project walkthroughs as required
- Assist with change order pricing and project cost tracking
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in the wall and ceiling industry
- Strong knowledge of drywall systems, acoustic ceilings, steel stud framing, insulation, and finishing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, Plan swift, Bluebeam, or similar
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Skills
- Experience with residential, commercial, and institutional construction projects
- Knowledge of local building codes and construction practices
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple bids simultaneously
