What You’ll Be Responsible For:
HR Leadership
- Serve as the organization's sole HR professional, providing operational human resources support across the business (proficiency in British Columbia & Manitoba ESA).
- Ensure HR practices align with employment legislation (we operate in both British Columbia & Manitoba), company policies, and industry best practices.
- Partner with leaders to develop HR plans that support organizational growth, employee engagement, and company culture.
- Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
- Champion a culture of safety by integrating occupational health and safety legislation into all people practices and organizational initiatives.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality; continuously reviewing that payroll processes and systems are efficient and accurate.
Employee Experience & Culture
- Foster a workplace culture that reflects The Hive’’s values, community focus, and passion for climbing.
- Consult with Managers and provide advice on various types of employee engagement, professional development, and wellness initiatives
- Support leadership development and coaching efforts across the organization.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain employee records, HR systems, policies, and documentation.
- Manage compensation reviews, leaves of absence, and employee lifecycle processes.
- Administer Company benefit programs.
- Act as one of the primary points of contact for employees to resolve pay discrepancies, answer compensation questions, and explain deductions.
- Assist Accounting team in end-to-end payroll cycles biweekly processing for both salaried and hourly staff.
- Monitor compliance with employment standards, occupational health and safety requirements, privacy obligations, and other applicable legislation.
Data & Insights
- Track and analyze key HR metrics including turnover, recruitment effectiveness, employee engagement, absenteeism, and workforce trends.
- Provide leaders with data-driven recommendations to support decision-making and organizational effectiveness.
- Develop reports and dashboards to measure HR initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations, employment standards, and reporting requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, Facility Managers, and Leadership Teams to support business objectives.
- Partner with safety and operations leaders to promote safe workplaces and positive employee experiences.
- Contribute to organizational projects, change initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Coordinate annual professional development and employee recognition budget
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Advise on full-cycle recruitment for indoor climbing facilities, operations, administration, leadership, and specialized roles.
- When required, support General Managers in workforce planning initiatives that help ensure staffing levels meet operational and seasonal business needs.
- Enhance onboarding programs that create positive employee experiences and support retention
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience operating independently in a standalone HR function.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPHR designation or working toward designation is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, workplace investigations, employee relations, and HR best practices.
- Experience managing full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and policy development.
- Proficient payroll & benefits administration knowledge.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Proficiency with HR Software systems and Google Workspace is an asset.
- An appreciation for climbing culture, recreation, & outdoor communities is an asset.

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
