Job Summary
Coyote Flats Charolais is looking for a full-time feed truck operator. We are located 14 km east of Coaldale and 10 km north of the McCains plant. Coyote Flats Charolais is a family owned 6000 head finishing feedlot, pure bred Charolais breeding program and a on farm butcher shop
We are only accepting Canadian citizens and Permanent residences, we currently do not have a LMIA
Duties and responsibilities
- Follows all company policies, procedures, and codes of practices
- Feeds cattle on an established pen route; unloads feed truck contents into the concrete feed bunks according to the Fusion feed program.
- Loads feed truck with proper feed proportions according to the individual ration requirements.
- Clean the feed truck; takes the truck to be serviced by company mechanics
- Greases and maintains feed truck daily bases
- Accurately and consistently feeds cattle in a timely manner in the same order and same time every day.
- Build rations with accurate and consistent ingredient amounts.
- Follow mixing instructions as per ration (i.e. mixing times, maximum load sizes, etc.).
- Ensure proper feed records are kept ensuring feed additive withdrawal times are adhered to
- Spread feed evenly across the entire bunk and clean any spills to reduce waste.
- Clear bunks of debris, rocks, manure, spoiled feed prior to delivering new feed.
- Maintain tidiness of the silage pit and practice good silage-face management.
- Clean and maintain tidiness of mill and mill area.
- Service and maintain mechanical components of mill
- Ensure new cattle are fed appropriately in a timely manner.
- Report pen maintenance issues or cattle health issues to Feedlot Manager(s) so problems can be rectified as soon as possible.
- Report any feeding errors or discrepancies to Feedlot Manager(s).
- Adhere to the Feed Truck Maintenance Schedule and pre-trip protocols.
- Run equipment – such as loaders.
- Receive and sample incoming feed ingredients
Skills and Requirements
- Previous farm, feedlot and or livestock experience
- Experience operating equipment
- Valid class 3 drivers license
- Fluent in English
- Willingness to learn, organized and good time management skills
- Reliable, dependable and committed
- Great team player and strong communication skills
- Good physical health
- Basic computer skills

Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Pay: 22-28 per hour depending on experience
Expected hours: 40-50 hours per week depending on season
Schedule
- Typical 8 hour shift work- variable depending on weather and season
- Weekend work, including Sunday, is on a scheduled shift rotation looking like 12 days on 2 off depending on season
