Job Summary: Allcan is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Wireless Solutions Specialist to join our team in Edmonton, AB. This role is ideal for a communications technology professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with customer engagement, solution development, and innovation.
As a Wireless Solutions Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert supporting pre-sales and post-sales activities, managing demonstration equipment, leading our Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PTToC) Fit-for-Use Test Lab, and helping drive strategic growth initiatives. You will work closely with customers, manufacturers, carriers, and internal teams to deliver industry-leading wireless communication solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of Allcan’s products, solutions, and related technologies.
- Support the sales team through technical presentations, solutions design, proposal development, bid reviews, and customer consultations.
- Participate in customer meetings, site visits, product demonstrations, and industry events.
- Build strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and engineering teams.
- Deliver technical training sessions to employees, channel partners, and customers through webinars, workshops, and in-person events.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customer technical representatives.
- Provide technical guidance for marketing materials, product documentation, and other technical content.
- Evaluate, test, and validate new products, technologies, and integrated solutions.
- Develop and maintain standardized testing procedures for devices, accessories, applications, and integrated solutions.
- Conduct compatibility, interoperability, and performance testing.
- Collaborate with Sales to position testing services as a value-added offering.
- Work with manufacturers, carriers, and technology partners to maintain a best-in-class testing facility.
- Support Allcan’s strategic growth initiatives within the Canadian PTToC market.
- Maintain and manage demonstration equipment inventory.
- Ensure demonstration assets remain current, operational, and readily available.
- Configure demonstration equipment to meet customer-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with Business Development Managers, customers, and partners to deliver successful demonstrations.
- Develop and maintain processes and documentation related to demonstration equipment management.
- Provide technical support related to product programming, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational inquiries.
- Manage the RMA process, including warranty claims, repairs, product returns, and manufacturer coordination.
- Perform basic in-house diagnostics and repairs when appropriate.
- Build strong relationships with manufacturers and repair partners to improve turnaround times and customer satisfaction.
- Act as the primary escalation point for technical support issues.
What you Bring
Experience and Qualifications:
- Practical experience deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting communications technologies, including RF two-way radio systems and/or IT networking environments.
- Experience with cellular device deployment, configuration, testing, and lifecycle management.
- Proven experience supporting complex technical projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Post-secondary education in Telecommunications, Electronics, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience with field installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting is considered an asset.
- Experience with Telecommunication (considered an asset).
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, and network security.
- Experience programming, configuring, deploying, and supporting two-way radio systems and subscriber equipment.
- Familiarity with RF planning and testing tools such as iBwave, Pathloss, RF test equipment, Mobile Device Management platforms, and related technologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to customer service.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to emerging technologies.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid drivers license and passport.
Compensation:
This role offers a base salary of $85,000.00 – $125,000.00 Annually.
