We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Local Dispatcher to join our Toronto Dispatch team. This role is vital in coordinating transportation operations, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining efficient communication across the supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency with transportation management systems, and a solid understanding of freight and shipping procedures.
Duties
- Coordinate and monitor dispatch and dock operations to ensure proper loading and timely deliveries.
- Manage shipping & receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and timely processing of shipments.
- Utilize data entry skills to update and maintain accurate records of shipments, delivery statuses, and related logistics information.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems, demonstrating professional phone etiquette.
- Analyze shipping data to identify opportunities for process improvements and optimize routing efficiency.
- Oversee freight movements, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain organized records related to transportation, shipping schedules, and freight documentation for audit purposes.
- Multitask effectively to handle various logistics and administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional logistics or supply chain certifications are a plus.
- Knowledge of Truck-mate software is an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word), basic knowledge and understanding of TMS applications
- Solid understanding of logistics and transportation, particularly in Less-than-Truckload (LTL) operations.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic dispatch environment to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask across various responsibilities seamlessly.
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
