Position Summary
The Professional Practice department is currently seeking a Permanent Part-Time Clinical Education Coordinator to join their team.
This position will primarily focus on the Surgical Program but will work in collaboration with other team members to support the strategic vision and direction of Ross Memorial Hospital.

The Clinical Education Coordinator will:
- Design, deliver, and evaluate educational programs, incorporate adult learning principles while providing feedback, coaching and mentoring.
- Assess unit-level learning needs and support nurses to meet their goals
- Provide comprehensive educational needs and evaluation to support newly hired nurses during orientation
- Provide direct and indirect supervision and support of clinical practice for nurses
- Provide leadership and act as a role model in the delivery of evidence-based nursing care and facilitate the integration of research into meeting established patient care standards/guidelines/protocols
- Foster positive staff interactions and promote a positive culture
- Facilitate and support nurses through unit-based initiatives and changes
- Ensure patient care complies with standards, legislation and regulations. Report non-compliance to the program manager.
Essential Qualifications
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of recent clinical experience in Acute Inpatient Adult Medicine and Surgery
- Holds a Certificate in Nursing Education or willing to complete within two (2) years of employment
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs using principles of adult learning.
- Demonstrated experience with program planning and evaluation, and managing organizational change initiatives
- Demonstrated high level of leadership, communication, time management and problem-solving skills required to manage diverse education needs and moving best practice evidence into nursing practice
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, collaborate and deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients, and the public
- Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention & Control standards and practices
- Experience in developing and revising policies and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with implementing internal and external (Ministry of Health) quality improvement projects
- Essential computer skills include use of computer-based teaching aids, use of Internet for research; and must be proficient in Word/PowerPoint/Excel
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirement of the position, as per the current Physical Demands analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing, or relevant field (e.g. Education)
- Minimum one (1) year Clinical Education experience in a hospital setting
- Certified Instructor in BLS
- Membership in RNAO and other related professional organizations
- Experience with developing and/or giving presentations (oral and/or visual) at conferences and/or workshops
- Demonstrated knowledge of EPIC programs - Clin Doc
Hours of Work
Must be available for eight (8) hour-day shift. Start times may vary. May be required to work evenings and weekends. Shifts and hours may vary according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
