Job Overview
The Family Gatherings program is mandated to support families to work with the communities of the Bulkley Valley to address the social determinants of health and well-being. Through the program the Family Gatherings Worker will create opportunities for families to come together and celebrate culture, food and traditions in a safe and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Celebrate other cultures represented in the group for their holidays/celebrations
- Indigenous games that can be played together through video chat or Facebook
- At home crafts with extra supplies made by hand instead of food for one week
- Virtual cooking/baking class segments. Purchase supplies and bake with clients online
- Learn about things that can be foraged/grown if no stores are available
- Learn about protocols of the fest hall, types of fests, fest rules and ideas
- Learn songs and dance via video chat
- Learn about all different kinds of cultures "Traditional food - Caribbean, French, Dutch and German, etc.
- Make emails, phone calls, messages to connect with families about weekly meal
- Shop for ingredients and shopping supplies
- prepare meals, hand out meals
- Make reports, send thank you cards for weekly activities
Experience
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A creative mindset with the ability to think on your feet during events.
- Experience in event planning or coordination is a plus but not required.
