Job Description
Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Food Expo is responsible for helping maintain functionality and consistency for the dishes leaving the kitchen. The Expo is a key role in bridging communication between the Front of House employees to the Back Of House Employees.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect every plate for accurate garnishes, proper temperature, and presentation standards before it leaves the kitchen.
- Relay special requests, and out-of-stock items seamlessly between front-of-house (FOH) servers and back-of-house (BOH) chefs.
- Keep the expo pass clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools (sauces, garnishes, clean plates, and silverware).
- Direct food runners and servers to ensure meals are delivered to the correct tables promptly while the food is hot.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ability to stand for long shifts, multitask, and thrive in high-stress, loud environments.
- Able to communicate professionally between FOH and BOH to prevent kitchen bottlenecks and resolve guest complaints gracefully.
- Deep familiarity with all food items, including their standard preparation methods and ingredients
- Safe Food Handlers Certificate not required, but considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- The position can at times require long hours standing, repetitive motions, chopping etc.
- Hot and cold environments
- The work environment is characteristic of many kitchens that can include smoke and heat from the cooking process, airborne particles of potential allergens such as spices, wheat flour, nuts and seeds.
- The kitchen can at times be loud. You may be required to work in close proximity to other culinary staff; and
- Required to spend long hours concentrating which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
