The mandate of the Department of Justice is to administer justice, including policing, community justice, victims services and corrections in the Northwest Territories. This mandate will be carried out in a manner which respects community and indigenous values and encourages communities to assume increasing responsibilities.
The Cook provides food services for the center within departmental and territorial guidelines for operational standards in the Correctional Division. This position is indirectly responsible for residents at meal times, to assist in the implementation and instruction of those residents participating in apprenticeship cook program. As part of the Corrections Division, the incumbent will ensure the ingoing provision and enforcement of policy and services within the Corrections Mission, Vision and Value statement.

Proven ability to plan and prepare meals for large numbers of people

Knowledge of food service procedures and practices and applicable health, safety (WHMIS), and sanitation standards

Typically attained by
Completion of a Red Seal Trades Certificate (3 year program) or 3 years general food service experience in a camp or institutional setting. First Aid/CPR and a valid class 4 driver¿s license.
Equivalencies may include
Completion of first year apprenticeship and 2 years general food service experience in a camp or institutional setting. First Aid/CPR and a valid class 4 driver¿s license
