Make a difference in your community!
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator and their assistant, this role supports the community through the Lindsay Community Food Market (LCFM). LCFM is a non-traditional food bank owned and operated by Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS). Launched in 2019, LCFM emphasizes the importance of choice and dignity in food banking by offering both pick-up and shopping-style appointments that allow clients to choose their foods as they would be able to at a grocery store. All aspects of LCFM operations are dedicated to supporting the dignity of clients, which means we do not conduct any means testing nor do we require ID verification to access LCFM services. Clients are served without bias or judgement.
This position is ideal for a student or young professional interested in community services, food systems, or social impact work.

This role is for Monday to Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Work will be at the food bank each day where you will engage with staff, volunteers, and clients. Start date is June 29th, 2026.
This is a front-line position working directly with individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. While the work can be challenging at times, it is also deeply rewarding to know you are making a meaningful difference in someone’s day through respectful and dignified service.
The food bank operates across two levels and does not have elevator access. This role requires use of stairs and the ability to move between floors while carrying items. We are committed to working with applicants to explore reasonable accommodations where possible.

About Kawartha Lakes Food Source
Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) is the distribution centre that provides food to our member food banks, schools and social service agencies that support those who are food insecure. Additionally, KLFS develops and delivers our own programs that directly serve our community.
This agency focuses on food related supports that make a positive impact in the City of Kawartha Lakes. We achieve this through education to the greater community via our communication channels; by activating volunteers that assist in program delivery; supporting members that serve the community directly with perishable and non-perishable food; and advocating for positive policy change related to food insecurity.
