THE OPPORTUNITY
Walden Circle Retirement Community, located in Mississauga's Clarkson Village, is actively seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our growing team.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Lifestyle Manager is responsible for developing, managing and implementing recreation and leisure programs for residents to create a vibrant atmosphere and provide unique experiences for the broad demographics of the residence/community, and in accordance with all legislative/regulatory requirements and Company policies and procedures.

- Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000 annual base salary; also eligible for a discretionary, performance-based bonus

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, implement, communicate and evaluate activity and lifestyle programs relating to the physical, spiritual, emotional, social and intellectual needs of the residents.
- Conduct the orientation of new residents and assess their individual interests, needs and capability in activities and leisure pursuits; document and update appropriate resident records accordingly.
- Work closely with all departments to assist in the execution of Sales and Marketing programs/events.
- Maintain a positive image of the residence through ongoing communication and networking in the community; maintain information on community programs, services and resources.
- Drive bus for resident outings as required.
- Sets annual goals and objectives for the department, evaluates and reports results; prepares annual budget for approval by Executive Director.
- Participate actively in all Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Quality Insurance programs.
- Recruit, hire, orient and train support staff (e.g. Lifestyle Assistant) and coordinate volunteer and co-op student programs.
- Oversee payroll-related activities for department team, including timecard review, approval of hours, tracking overtime and on-call work, and ensuring accurate and timely submission to payroll.
- Manage lifestyle financial administration, including purchase orders, vendor invoices, expense tracking, and budget monitoring to support accurate accounting and cost control.
- Enforce and adhere to all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, legislation and Company policies and procedures, including Company dress code.
- Act as weekend Manager on Duty on a rotational schedule.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Walking, stretching and standing on a variety of surfaces for at least 3 hours per day.
- Lift alone, up to 35 pounds.
- Pushing, pulling wheeled equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Bending, stooping on a regular basis.
- Physical exertion consistent with teaching Aqua Fit and Exercise classes.
- Some evening and weekend work required.
WHO YOU ARE
- Post-Secondary education in recreation/leisure program at a College level of certification.
- Preferably 3 years of relevant experience.
- Fitness (e.g. Can-Fit Pro, Aqua Fit) and Smart Serve certification preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and Recreation applications).
- Knowledgeable of the Health and Safety regulations.
- Maintains a current certificate in CPR/First Aid.
- Valid driver’s license (F) where required.
- Must be able to provide a police check with vulnerable sector screen upon hire.
- Must be able to provide results of TB (tuberculosis) testing (2-step skin test or chest x-ray) upon hire.
- Must be able to provide a record of vaccination for COVID-19 (minimum 2 doses) upon hire.
