Responsibilities:
- Receive and review customer specifications as per the job ticket and ensures the components and material meet the customer’s requirements before proceeding to print.
- Operates flexographic press of multiple color and features such as lamination to produce quality one ply labels.
- Examine job orders to determine quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors and/or special printing instructions.
- Set up press by loading anilox into the press; install blades on anilox; install cylinders with plate; install fountain roller and hose; placing ink in the fountain roller; Install paper (base material) in the press and install die; adjust finishing blades and adjust press for paper excess disposal.
- Input production job settings into workstation terminals to set up press operation.
- Take a test print sample from the printed web to ensure product registration, colour, and die-cutting compares against artwork and obtain approval from either the supervisor, QA or a colleague.
- Operate the press and adjust as needed to ensure proper registrations and ensure ink is correctly balanced throughout the whole process.
- Write down the operation data throughout the process and prepare final report once the work is completed.
- Work in an efficient manner to decrease make ready time and to reduce downtime by troubleshooting stoppages as well as breakdowns and call maintenance for assistance when required.
- Communicate label production issues with appropriate personnel in a timely manner so as not to delay on-time delivery to the customer.
- Perform routine maintenance on the press.
- Assists with wash-up as necessary and clean the press and remove accessories with the assistance of the Press Helper.
- Performs any other production related work assignment(s) as requested by plant management.
- Keep press and work station clean and organized -
- 5S – sort, set, shine, straighten and sustain.
Education & Qualifications:
- 3 -5 years experience operating a printing press in a flexographic printing plant Efficiency; Observation skills
- Good attention to detail
- Good mechanical and technical aptitude
- Computer literate
- Good vision with ability to visually differentiate and match colours and able to read Pantone book.
- Ability to use and interpret the spectrophotometer.
- Creative/innovative and takes the initiatives.
- Good interpersonal, problem solving, troubleshooting, communication, planning and organization skills.
- Good team spirit, attitude and open to constructive criticism.
- Ability to execute a particular request with a sense or urgency.
- Able to read, interpret, follow, and give instructions.
- Able to produce >10 color labels with varying complexities and multiple layers.
- Flexible and co-operative.
- Works efficiently applying lean principles.
- Good muscle co-ordination and muscular dexterity.
- Resourceful and responsible person.
- Must be able to work shift hours and weekends when required.
- Able to lift 50 lbs and to stand 8-10 hours per shift.
