Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join our supply chain team. This role is essential in managing warehouse distribution, transportation, and procurement processes to ensure seamless order fulfillment and materials management. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis skills, experience with ERP systems such as AS400 and Warehouse Management Systems, and a solid understanding of supply chain operations including freight, 3PL, shipping & receiving, and demand planning. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to process improvement initiatives and optimize logistics workflows in a dynamic environment.
Duties
- Coordinate warehouse distribution activities, including order picking, packaging, and shipping & receiving operations.
- Manage procurement processes by sourcing materials, negotiating pricing, and overseeing sourcing strategies.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and ERP systems (such as AS400) to plan and track shipments, freight movements, and delivery schedules.
- Oversee demand planning to ensure inventory levels meet production needs while minimizing excess stock.
- Monitor and improve logistics processes through data analysis and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with 3PL providers to coordinate freight services, shipping schedules, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, inventory levels, and materials management using warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Assist with order fulfillment activities including order picking, packaging, and scheduling shipments for timely delivery.
- Support warehouse operations by managing shipping & receiving workflows and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts when necessary for materials handling.
- Utilize CMMS for maintenance scheduling related to warehouse equipment.
- Contribute to e-commerce logistics strategies by coordinating packaging and order processing for online sales channels.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, supply chain management, or logistics coordination.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and pricing negotiations.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems (including AS400), WMS, and Warehouse Management System software.
- Data analysis skills to interpret logistics metrics and identify process improvements.
- Experience with freight management, 3PL coordination, shipping & receiving procedures, and demand planning.
- Ability to operate forklift equipment safely; relevant certification preferred.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple logistics functions simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating across departments including procurement, warehouse teams, and external vendors.
- Warehouse experience including order picking, materials management, packaging, and sourcing is highly desirable. This role is integral to maintaining efficient supply chain operations through effective coordination of logistics activities while supporting continuous process enhancements within the organization.
