Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join our team in Canada. The Health & Safety Officer will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our workforce while supporting our commitment to safe construction practices. This position is based in Toronto and offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful projects within the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in workplace audits and investigations of safety concerns, incidents and accidents
- Lead, plan and organize annual COR audit for the company
- Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments and formulate polices and procedures to reduce risk of injuries and accidents
- Maintain proper records as required by OHS regulations as well as COR audit requirements
- Lead and participate in workplace inspections to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees
- Develop and implement health and safety programs, including standard operating procedures, policies and training to mitigate risk, optimize worker’s health and safety and foster a positive occupational health and safety culture
- Train staff on workplace safety to foster a safe workplace environment
- Initiate enforcement procedures on workplaces contravening OSHA regulations, organization and government health and safety standards and regulations
- Communicate, engage and influence decision-makers and workers to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Investigate incidents to ensure that all incidents are reported and recorded within legal framework
- Conduct periodic inspections and safety drills to ensure safety protocols are followed on-site.
- Ensure compliance to health and safety regulations and company standards
- Investigating accidents and "near-miss" incidents to determine the root cause and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and records for audits and inspections.
Qualifications
- Degree/ Diploma in OHS
- Expertise in risk management, hazard assessment, and safety regulations (e.g., WHMIS, provincial health and safety acts)
- CRSP Certification an asset
- 2-5 years experience
- Experience with handling COR audit
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Tenacious self-starter
- Ability to work well with diverse teams
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
