iGaming Ontario leads the Province of Ontario’s dynamic internet gaming (igaming) market that, in its third year generated $83 billion in total wagers, a 31% increase over the previous year. This resulted in $3.2 billion in total gaming revenue from over 80 gaming sites. Even more, Ontario’s igaming market sustained almost 15,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the province. iGaming Ontario is seeking a Lead, Research and Insights to drive our organization’s understanding of players and market dynamics in Ontario’s online gaming and betting sector. This role will lead the design, execution and activation of research programs as well as insights products that shape business and market strategy at iGaming Ontario.
The ideal candidate combines rigorous analytical skills with strong business acumen and excellent communication. You are equally comfortable managing complex research programs and distilling insights that inform high impact decisions.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Market Insights, you will:
- Develop and inform iGaming Ontario’s market research insights strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Lead the execution and delivery of iGaming Ontario's Research and Insights projects and studies including market sizing, brand tracking, and experience research.
- Advise on qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, advise on best practices, and recommend procedures for project design and execution
- Collaboratively evaluate business challenges and information gaps and determine the best methodologies to achieve business objectives - leveraging internal resources, external vendors, or hybrid approaches.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations and build compelling narratives, ensuring findings are effectively communicated at the peer and executive level.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging player behaviors.
- Collaborate closely with senior leaders to identify information gaps and shape research agendas.
- Engage and strengthen relationships with external vendors to support iGaming Ontario's research activities.
- Foster a highly collaborative and innovative environment, as part of the broader Market Insights team.
- Champion an insights and data driven culture across the organization.
- Lead procurement efforts and oversee vendor selection, project scoping, timelines, budgets, and quality control.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A University Degree in Business Administration, Analytics, Operations Research, Economics and five years’ experience applying market research and data analysis techniques to business problems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Strong storytelling, communication skills and presentation abilities.
- Experience managing end to end research programs and external agency partners.
- Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with data manipulation and insights tools (e.g. PowerBI, Excel, PowerQuery)
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, collaborate across disciplines, and problem solve amid ambiguity and in white space environments.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with team members, fostering a collaborative and results-focused environment.
iGaming Ontario has implemented a minimum four-day per week in-office schedule and may implement a full return to office in 2026. The terms of iGaming Ontario’s Hybrid Work Policy are subject to change at any time, including its office location, the removal of the Hybrid Work Policy and a return to full-time in-office work.
This position falls within the scope of a bargaining unit represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). In the upcoming months, iGaming Ontario and OPSEU will be negotiating the terms of a collective agreement which, once concluded, will govern the terms and conditions of this position.
