Sea Cider is seeking a full time Chef to lead our food program, which encompasses menus for:
- Daily Tastings
- Deli food “to go”
- Group bookings
- On-site markets and other large public events
Chef duties encompass food preparation, leadership and continuous improvement; this person plays a central role helping Sea Cider reach its culinary targets and grow the food program. The Chef is a member of Sea Cider’s Leadership Team and reports to management. Performance is assessed against food revenue and gross profit, food quality, employee feedback and customer reviews. Food safety, team safety and customer service are top priorities.
Food Preparation: During the Quiet Season, the Chef frequently works as the sole team member in the Kitchen, taking on all roles (prep, plating, dishes, completing opening & closing checklists, etc). During the High Season, the Chef works alongside junior Associates who are part time or seasonal.
HR Management: The Chef leads by example to build a positive team culture. The Chef leads the daily kitchen team huddle and briefs team members at the start of their shift, covers breaks, creates prep lists and assigns tasks, and leads troubleshooting. The Chef also leads the training, supervision and performance reviews of Kitchen Assistants, and assists management with scheduling and recruitment.
Inventory Management: The Chef monitors stock, places supply orders and alerts management to inventory needs. The Chef is also accountable for keeping storage areas clean and organized, monitoring food quality, and recording waste.
Financial Management: The Chef is expected to follow the food program budget and regularly review actuals with management, as well as help with forecasting.
Continuous Improvement: The Chef updates SOPs and training materials, and implements cost saving measures where possible. This person collaborates with management and colleagues to improve all aspects of Sea Cider’s food program. The Chef also plays a pivotal role in growing Sea Cider’s food program over time.

Qualifications
Culinary diploma or degree (required)
Food Safe certification (required)
Serving It Right certification (required)
First Aid certification (required)
Minimum 5 years' experience in a culinary leadership role
Skills & Experience
Proven experience developing training programs and coaching staff
Proficiency with standard workplace software for costing, inventory management and recipes

Availability
Physical Requirements
Ability to routinely lift up to 15 kg
