ABOUT THE ROLE:
Provides professional support services to the Child and Adolescent Inpatient unit as well as crisis assessment services to the Emergency department.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Systems approach; including client’s family and inter-professional team.
- Demonstrated experience and confidence in clinical skills, team participation and professional reports to staff, family, community and physicians
- Leadership skills, with demonstrated experience in taking initiative and program development
- Demonstrates excellence in communication, both written and verbal
- Analysis / problem assessment
- Innovative and willing to learn
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Demonstrates individual leadership skills
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Child & Youth Worker Diploma (3 year program), or B.A. in Child & Youth Care
- Current membership in Ontario Association of Child & Youth Workers
- Crisis intervention training, e.g., Crisis Prevention Institute course or equivalent is preferred
- Three (3) to five (5) years relevant work experience
- CPR or Heart Saver training
- Experience in a mental health setting important, with knowledge and professional applications in services for adolescents with severe mental health disorders: knowledge and experience working with adolescents with eating disorders is preferred
- Experience with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, group therapy (both psycho-education and process-oriented groups) with adolescents, is strongly preferred
- Systems approach; including client’s family, inter-professional team, education and community network considered important in work
- Experience in mental health crisis assessments, and working on call in a hospital emergency department is preferred
- Hospital treatment experience
