AYR Motor Express is currently recruiting for experienced Dispatch Operations candidates. We are seeking an experienced Truck Dispatcher to join our team. Our Truck Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily fleet operations to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries, regulatory compliance, and high levels of customer satisfaction. This role acts as the central communication point between drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders while optimizing fleet utilization and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor daily dispatch operations to ensure all units meet scheduled pickup and delivery times
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and mentorship to drivers to promote compliance, efficiency, and service quality
- Ensure drivers are properly prepared for cross-border movements, including:
- Confirming ACI is submitted prior to arrival at Canadian customs
- Verifying drivers have accurate load details, including correct trailers, commodities, and supporting documentation
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders
- Monitor driver performance and proactively address service or compliance issues
- Ensure all required documentation (e.g., trip records, customs paperwork, logs) is accurately completed, submitted, and retained
- Maintain compliance with applicable transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) requirements
- Respond to real-time operational challenges and adjust dispatch plans as needed
Schedule
- Rotating schedule: 4 days on / 4 days off
Qualifications & Skills
- 1-2 years of Experience dispatching transport trucks is required.
- Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and transportation legislation
- Experience with cross-border freight operations
- Familiarity with ELD systems and transportation management software (TMS)
- Understanding of fuel optimization or routing strategies
- Thorough understanding of Canada and USA geography
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly learn dispatch and fleet management systems
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
