The following is a list of the major responsibilities of an Electrical Estimator:
- Analyze project requirements, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work.
- Estimate the cost of materials, labour, equipment, and other expenses required for project execution.
- Prepare detailed and accurate bids using Accubid for projects, ensuring all costs are accounted for and competitive.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotes and negotiate pricing.
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimation and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of estimates, bids, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide clarification on estimates and bids.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure alignment on project requirements and budgets.
- Ensure that all estimates and bids are submitted accurately and on time, meeting client deadlines.
Business Development / Client Retention:
- Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
- Attend internal meetings such as Operations, Safety, and Sales.
Qualifications:
- An Electrical Journeyperson ticket is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
- Accubid experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
- Certification in estimating (optional but preferred).
