About the Role
We are seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our fast-paced oilfield shops. This role supports the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy-duty trucks, oilfield equipment, and trailers, under the guidance of Journeyman Foreman.
Red Deer Shop
- We have 2 openings available in our Red Deer shop
- These positions are well suited for those who are motivated to develop strong diagnostic and mechanical skills in a demanding oilfield environment
- These roles would be well suited for either a Journeyman Mechanic or a 3rd or 4th year Mechanic Apprentice working toward Journeyman certification
- These roles require 10 hour work days on a rotation of 8 days on / 6 days off, with overtime as required
Kuusamo Shop
- We have 1 opening available in our Kuusamo shop (15 minutes outside of Sylvan Lake)
- This position is well suited for someone with experience that can act as lead hand and is open to making the occasional service call to complete field repairs when needed
- This role would be well suited for a Journeyman Mechanic or a 4th year Mechanic Apprentice working toward Journeyman certification in the upcoming year
- This role has preferred hours of 10 hours per day; the rotation is negotiable
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the inspect, diagnosis, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks, oilfield equipment, and trailers
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing under supervision
- Support troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Assist with unscheduled repairs to minimize equipment downtime
- Follow instructions and guidance provided by Journeyman mechanics
- Accurately complete work orders, inspection forms, and maintenance documentation
- Support shop operations in a fast-paced, oilfield environment
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Collaborate with Operations, Safety, and Dispatch teams as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Heavy Duty Mechanic or Apprentice (3rd or 4th year considered)
- Previous experience working in a mechanical or heavy equipment environment
- Valid Class 5 licence with clean abstract (Class 1 or 3 would be considered an asset)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced oilfield shop environment
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety
- Willingness to work extended hours during the winter season
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
