This is a permanent, full-time position with the Community Services Department.
Reporting to the Parks Foreman, this position is responsible for:
- The maintenance and upkeep of all City parks, sports fields, and open spaces, and to ensure all recreation assets are kept to a professional standard.
- All general and specific maintenance for the day-to-day operations in all the City’s recreation assets ranging from: arena, field house, curling rink, and ice maintenance in the winter, to grass cutting, sports fields, parks, open space, and golf course maintenance in the summer.
- Responding to the day-to-day maintenance needs of all City recreation assets as well as the transitioning of these assets for various activities.
- Related duties may include overseeing, scheduling and communicating with contractors regarding matters relating to the maintenance and upkeep of the recreation assets.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Class 3 Driver’s License with Q endorsement/Airbrakes is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have minimum 2 years’ experience, preferably in a Municipal or other government setting.
- Equipment operator training, specific training as required, i.e. Playground Maintenance, Building Maintenance, etc.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- ARFP certificates for Arena Operator II and Parks & Sportsfield Operator II are considered an asset.
- Satisfactory annual Driver’s Abstract.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Hours of work are rotating shifts of 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. The hourly wage for this position is $34.78 per hour.
This position is within the scope of AUPE Local 118/016, and as such you will be required to adhere to articles contained within the Collective Agreement.
