Overview,
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Production Manager to lead daily operations in a fast-paced autobody repair shop. In this key role, you will oversee the entire repair process—from vehicle intake to final delivery—ensuring high-quality workmanship, efficient workflow, and on-time completion. Your leadership will be critical in coordinating technicians, managing production schedules, and maintaining industry standards while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of autobody repair production, including disassembly, bodywork, painting, reassembly, and detailing.
- Manage daily workflow and production schedules to ensure timely vehicle turnaround and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with estimators, parts coordinators, and insurance partners to ensure accurate job planning and parts availability.
- Monitor repair progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to maximize shop efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure all repairs meet OEM standards, safety regulations, and quality control requirements.
- Supervise and support technicians (body technicians, painters, preppers, and detailers) to maintain high performance and workmanship standards.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cycle time, touch time, and productivity.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Handle customer concerns or escalations related to repair timelines or quality when required.
- Promote continuous improvement through training, team development, and process optimization initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Production Manager, Shop Manager, or Supervisor in an autobody or collision repair environment.
- Strong understanding of autobody repair processes, including frame work, painting, and refinishing.
- Familiarity with estimating systems (e.g., Mitchell, Audatex, CCC ONE) and shop management software is an asset.
- Knowledge of insurance claim processes and DRP (Direct Repair Program) workflows preferred.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide technicians.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to quality control, safety standards, and customer satisfaction.
- I-CAR certification or industry-related credentials are considered an asset.
