Overview
Community Living Port Colborne–Wainfleet is currently seeking a Summer Camp Counsellor Lead to join our Community Living team. This program provides 3:1 supports for children attending flexible, community-based daily outings. Camp Counsellors support children throughout the day to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive summer experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:30am-4:30 pm) with extended care based on family needs.
The Camp Program runs from July 6, 2026 to August 28, 2026 and mandatory training runs from June 22, 2026 to June 26, 2026.
Nature and Scope
Camp Counsellors are responsible for working with a variety of campers with special needs, physical or behavioural challenges, or medical considerations. Camp Counsellors support children throughout the day to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive summer experience.
Key Responsibilities of the Position
- Greet children in the morning, and complete daily screening
-Oversee three counsellors
-Prepare, organize, and schedule activities for the week
-Transport children to scheduled activities
-Support and integrate children into daily programs
-Supervise outdoor games and recreational activities
-Prepare, organize, and adapt activities as required
-Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
-Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, changing, and feeding
-Communicate effectively with coworkers and the Program Coordinator
-Return children home safely at the end of each camp day
-Attend and actively participate in all required training sessions
Qualifications
-Currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in Child and Youth Worker, Recreation & Leisure, or a related field
-Previous experience working with children (experience with disabilities is an asset)
-Valid G driver’s licence
-Clear driver’s abstract
-Access to a reliable vehicle with valid insurance to transport children
-Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
-Current CPR and First Aid certification

Pay: $22.50 per hour
