The Concurrent Disorders Enhanced Services within the Adult Inpatient Program at CCMHBI provides specialized treatment services for individuals experiencing both a severe Mental Health illness along with a severe addiction. Reporting to a Unit Manager, the Psychiatric Aide - CDES will be working with a client centered treatment approach and will be responsible for providing patient and family support, discharge planning, group facilitation and individual work with clients to enhance their well-being. You will report all relevant patient information to a staff nurse or Unit Manager.
As a Psychiatric Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs as well as assist with organized activities or programs. In this position, you will observe and report on a patients mood, health, well-being, maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals, assist with the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors as well as assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Keen observation and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively as a team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference given to applicants with experience in a Mental Health and Addictions environment. Experience in a Mental Health environment is a definite asset.
