Quality Control Analyst (CWB Level 2)
Shift: Night, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM; 10 hour days, 50 hours per week
Job Summary:
Rozen Steelworks specializes in the fabrication of pressure piping, power piping, and structural steel. We have just opened our second shop and are taking on even more project work as we continue to grow. We are currently looking for a dedicated Level 2 CWB Quality Control Analyst to join the Rozen Steelworks team.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate quality control initiatives;
- Perform verification of measuring equipment calibration for all applicable processes and maintain records; inform the Foreman of any damage to or loss of equipment;
- Involve in the inspection activities prior to fabrication, during fabrication and after fabrication to ensure correct material, welding procedure and parameter is used;
- Fit up check of pipe spools and structural steel to ensure it is in accordance with IFC drawing requirements;
- Weld visual inspection and final dimension inspection of pipe spool and structural steel to ensure it meets code and client specification requirements;
- Manage and perform audits/inspections of project sites to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements, and client specifications;
- Coordinate with NDT subcontractors to perform NDT as required by approved ITP for the job;
- Maintain suitable and accurate records for the welding, machining, and other quality control requirements;
- Ensure welder is qualified for the process, material and thickness to be welded;
- Assist the Foreman in the development of relevant quality related plans;
- Review scope of work and client documentation and raise request QC project information as required;
- Be ready to work on different function of QC inspector such as inspection, reports, turn over and co ordination with NDE, client, TPI etc.;
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 4 – 5 years of previous experience in a similar role;
- Must have CSA W178.2 Level II with code endorsement of ASME B31.3, CSA W59/47.1
- Understanding and interpretation of structural drawing, piping drawing, weld symbols is required;
- Incoming material and final product inspection experience;
- Previous experience in a fabrication shop is required;
- Welding principles and metallurgical properties knowledge;
- Welding inspection experience;
- Ability to read X-ray photographs of welded joints;
- Ability to work well in a team environment;
- Ability to work with little supervision;
- Ability to read and understand client specifications
- Excellent communication skills (this role deals with client inspector and TPI frequently);
- Basic knowledge of construction codes;
- Understanding of turnover binder and be able to work on it as an when required;
- Commitment to safety and safe work procedures;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- Possess strong critical thinking skills with a high degree of initiative;
- Complete required WHMIS training;
- Exceptional organizational skills;
- Candidate's with JM ticket (Welder or Pipe Fitter) will be given preference;
